Wellington Road Crossing Petition

Safe Pedestrian Crossing on Wellington Road

Wellington Road has been a pedestrian safety problem for too long and I know many of you feel exactly the same way. Every day, residents, families, school children, renters, and park goers on both sides of the Gabba and Coorparoo boundary are crossing a fast moving arterial road without a safe or direct way to do it.

What makes this so frustrating is that the solution already exists. A signalised crossing near 135 Wellington Road has been fully designed and costed since 2023. The plans are sitting there, ready to go and what's missing is the political will at Brisbane City Council to fund it.

Students walking to East Brisbane State School, residents in surrounding apartment buildings, and everyone visiting our local parks and open spaces deserve safe streets. This road was never designed with pedestrians in mind, and it shows. That has to change.

I'm calling on Brisbane City Council to allocate capital funding in the 2026–27 budget to finally deliver this crossing. The project is ready and our community has waited long enough.

Please add your name to the petition before it closes on Tuesday, 2 June 2026.

I'd love to hear from you in person. Join me at my community BBQ at Raymond Park on Wednesday 28 May, from 5–8 pm. We can talk about the Wellington Road crossing, your local priorities, and anything else on your mind. Bring the kids, bring a neighbour -  everyone's welcome.
