Housing and Development For People, Not Profit

We are living through the worst housing crisis in decades. Instead of prioritising public housing and liveable neighbourhoods, Labor and LNP Councillors have continued to put their developer mates first, voting for tax breaks and city plan exemptions that maximise developer profits.

The Greens will bring developers in line with community needs and expectations by overhauling the City Plan to prioritise affordable, sustainable, well-designed housing, and holding developers accountable to mandatory standards. We will help tackle the housing crisis by freezing rents for two years, and immediately increase housing supply by building Council-owned public housing,Β cracking down on Airbnbs and penalising investors for leaving good homes empty.
