Town Hall: Keep Public Land in Public Hands

Decisions are being made right now that will shape our community for decades, and most residents have no idea it's happening.

The LNP State Government is moving to sell 8.75 hectares of public land, the last major parcels of publicly owned land in Kurilpa, to private developers, without meaningful community involvement.

On 29 May 2026, the State Government declared the Montague Road Precinct a Provisional Priority Development Area (PPDA), giving itself extraordinary power to override existing planning rules and take direct control over how this area is developed.

There is no requirement for social housing, no guarantee of affordable housing, and no commitment to deliver the schools, parks and infrastructure needed to support rapid growth. Council, elected councillors and local communities will have no say in planning decisions.

Once public land is sold, we don't get it back.

Join me at our Community Town Hall — Thursday 11 June

Come and find out:

  • What the PPDA means for South Brisbane, West End and Woolloongabba;
  • What is planned for the Montague Road Precinct and surrounding public land;
  • What rights residents still have; and
  • How to make an effective submission before 19 June.

This is our chance to ask questions and make our voices heard.

RSVP today and bring your neighbours.
