Gabba Ward Bike Rack Consultation

The Gabba Ward has some of the highest rates in the country of people using bicycles for transport. Many residents and visitors use their bikes to commute to work, pop down to the local park, and when going shopping or visiting local businesses.

But in many places across the ward, there are no available bike parking racks. The result is that people are forced to lock their bikes to street lights or other objects that may not be the most suitable locations. So I am allocating funding through my Suburban Enhancement Fund to deliver new bike parking across the Gabba Ward.

Following consultation with bicycle advocacy groups, I have asked Council to only install Sheffield Stand style bike racks (image below). These style of racks are easier to use than the multi-bike racks and can better accommodate larger bikes like cargo bikes and tricycles.
