Imagine waking up the morning after an election, checking your phone and the headline is: “Greens to Form Government.” A Greens Prime Minister fronts the media announcing a tax on billionaires to fund a liveable income for everyone, building 1 million public homes, and free childcare, uni and TAFE. A rapid transition from coal and gas to net zero emissions unlocks a new economic prosperity with publicly owned renewables industries. Genuine treaty processes begin with First Nations peoples and refugees are freed from detention.
Political change is coming. Only 22% of Australians believe politicians act in the public interest. Major parties’ support is in consistent decline.
In some countries the Greens are already emerging as the leading party. It can happen in Australia too.
But we need a plan. To win government would require organising and training 10,000s of volunteers to have engaged one-on-one conversations with millions of people across 76 electorates around the country. We would need vibrant independent unions and community organisations uniting people on the basis of common material interests in their workplaces and neighbourhoods.
Come hear our 18 year plan to win government.
