08/03/25: Sunday Waste Collection & PT Update

Dear Neighbours,

While Tropical Cyclone Alfred has been downgraded to a tropical low, the risk of heavy rainfall and flooding remains. The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) and emergency services are actively monitoring this slow-moving system, which has already brought significant rainfall to the region.

From Saturday to Sunday, we can expect heavy to intense rainfall, with the potential for flash flooding and rapid river level rises in areas like the lower Brisbane River and Brisbane Creek catchments.

Brisbane City Council Rapid Response teams, Energex, SES, and firefighters are working around the clock to restore services and assist with the impacts.

What You Need to Know:

  • Heavy rainfall will continue over the weekend.
  • Stay indoors and avoid driving through floodwaters.
  • Weather warnings are still in place, so please stay informed.

As we wait to see what further impacts may be in store, let’s take a moment to acknowledge the amazing efforts of our Gabba Ward community. From clearing yards, balconies, and basements, to sandbagging, trimming vegetation, checking on neighbors, and providing shelter for those in need – your actions make a difference!

👏 Thank you to everyone for supporting one another during this challenging time, whether it’s by transporting supplies, caring for the vulnerable, filling up and distributing sandbags or sharing important information.

We are prepared and we will get through this. Stay strong. 💪
